College (Canada)

In Canadian English, the term college usually refers to a technical, applied arts, or applied science school. These are post-secondary institutions granting certificates, diplomas, associate's degree, and bachelor's degrees.

Terminology

In English Canada, the term "college" is usually used to refer to technical schools that offer specialized professional or vocational education in specific employment fields. They include colleges of applied arts and technology, colleges of applied sciences, etc.

In Ontario and Alberta, and formerly in British Columbia, there are also institutions which are designated university colleges, as they only grant under-graduate degrees. This is to differentiate between universities, which have both under-graduate and graduate programs and those that do not. There is a distinction between "college" and "university" in Canada. In conversation, one specifically would say either "They are going to university" (i.e., studying for a three- or four-year degree at a university) or "They are going to college" (suggesting a technical or career college).

College (TV series)

College is a 1990 Italian comedy television series, based on the 1983/4 film College. It aired on Tuesdays at 20.30 in Italy from March 6 to June 5, 1990 for a total of 14 episodes. The episodes were directed by Lorenzo Castellano and Federico Moccia. The music for the series was provided by Claudio Simonetti. The female lead in the series is Federica Moro, Miss Italy, while her male counterpart, and her boyfriend, is Keith Van Hoven.

The college featured in the series is located near the Naval Academy in the heart of Tuscany. The show was produced by Reteitalia and had excellent results in the ratings, with a peak of 6 million viewers per episode. It has since been re-run on numerous satellite channels.

College is a St. Louis MetroLink Red Line station serving Southwestern Illinois College in Saint Clair County, Illinois. The station is east of Belleville, Illinois on Illinois Route 161 and west of Scott Air Force Base.

Gang (film)

Gang is a 2000 Bollywood film directed by Mazhar Khan. The film began production in the early 1990s and was delayed for many years. The director Mazhar Khan died two years before the film's release. The song Chhod Ke Na Jaana is composed by R.D.Burman and rest by Anu Malik.

Plot

Four friends, Gangu (Jackie Shroff), Abdul (Nana Patekar), Nihal (Kumar Gaurav) and Gary (Jaaved Jaffrey)- which forms the word G.A.N.G, get together to start their business, but their roots are built on friendship and trust. They succeed in their criminal goals, although Gangu is arrested and sentenced to jail for five years. Before going to jail, he asks them to promise to go straight, to which they all agree.

When Gangu is released, he is pleased to find that Abdul is now driving a taxi, his mother is well looked after, and that Nihal and Gary have also started doing business. It is when Gangu meets his sweetheart, Sanam (Juhi Chawla), and proposes marriage, that he learns that all is not well in their world.

Forty-Two Gang

The Forty-Two Gang is a teenage street gang in Chicago that started during the Prohibition. Like Brooklyn's Italian and Jewish street gangs of Brownsville and Ocean Hill, the Forty-Two Gang serves as a "farm team" for future members of the Chicago Outfit. Forty-Two gang members include future syndicate members Sam "Teets" Battaglia, Louis "Cockeyed Louie" Fratto (also known as Lew Farrell), Felix Alderisio ("Milwaukee Phil"), Samuel DeStefano ("Mad Sam"), Charles "Chuckie" Nicoletti, Fiore "Fifi" Buccieri, Albert Frabotta, William "Smokes" Aloisio, Frank "Skids" Caruso, William Daddano ("Willie Potatoes"), Joe Caesar DiVarco, Rocco Potenza, Leonard Gianola, Vincent Inserro and brothers Leonard, Marcello Giovanni Caifano ("John Marshall"), Mario DeStefano and Joey "Cowboy" Miletta.

The gang's history has been well documented and researched. In 1931, sociologists at the University of Chicago determined that of the original forty-two Gang members, over thirty had been killed, seriously wounded or imprisoned on a variety of charges, including murder, armed robbery and sexual assault. The gang is found commonly around what are to be known as the Italian neighborhoods of Chicago.
